New Delhi: Several BJP leaders were detained in New Delhi on Wednesday when they were trying to take out a procession to the residence of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in protest against the rising number of fatal accidents involving Blueline buses in the capital.

There was high drama near Dikshit's residence when BJP leader Vijay Goel tried to drive a bus near CM's house. Goel was arrested on the spot.

The BJP leader and former Union minister was then taken to Parliament Street Police Station after arrest from near the 3, Moti Lal Nehru Marg residence of the Chief Minister.

Goel was trying to convey a message that private buses were being run on Delhi roads by inexperienced drivers like him.

"I did this to drive home the message to the Chief Minister that Blueline buses are being run by inexperienced drivers like me, putting the lives of Delhiites at risk," he said.

"Sheila Dikshit should also travel on Blueline buses and experience the risk for herself," he said, referring to the CM's reported remark some months back that she would rather walk than travel on a Blueline.

Goel demanded that experienced persons should drive Blueline buses.
