Bidar-Hyderabad express train flagged off

People of the district had good reason to celebrate when the much-awaited Bidar- Hyderabad intercity train was flagged off by Minister of State for Railway K H Muniyappa here on Monday.

A huge crowd gathered for the grand ceremony which featured dance programmes and other cultural activities as people welcomed the minister along with former chief minister and MP Dharam Singh.

Karnataka stood first in the country in taking up railway projects in association with the Union government, said Muniyappa. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, he stressed on the need of the states and Centre to take up projects on agreement for development work.

 “Singh put in lot of efforts to realise the dream of the Bidar-Hyderabad train and other demands of the people of the district,” the minister said. Singh said that they are working on confidencebuilding measures among the public.

 He listed out the demands of the people of the district and said that most of their demands will be met soon.Setting up a helicopter parts manufacturing unit in Bidar is under consideration and will be implemented soon.Changing the time of the Nanded-Bangalore train so that it would be more convenient to people of the district is also under consideration, he said.
