BANGALORE: While the Opposition is still condemning the BBMP for presenting deficit budget, senior councillor K Chandrashekar, slammed BBMP for not utilising the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNurm) funds. In the Council while debating on the budget, Chandrashekar explained the funds allotted from the Central is not being utilise by the the civic agency.The senior councillor said, “Out of the total `954 crore funds released so far, including `267 crore from State government, BBMP has utilised only `404 crore.Why was the remaining `550 crore not utilised.” JnNurm had approved 14 projects of BBMP, of which three projects were transferred to Slum Board and two projects were closed.WORK IN PROGRESS Work at R V Teachers college and Nagavara has not been started at all.Kadirenahalli project should be completed by November 9, 2011, while Tagore circle and Gali Anjaneya ward work should be completed by November 12th and 9th respectively.The CNR circle work should be complete by December 6 next year.“Looking at the pace at which the phase work is going on, it is difficult to meet JnNurm’s deadline in March 2012.If we fail to meet the deadline, we will lose the `200 crore which is mentioned in the BBMP budget,” he said.“BBMP was successful in getting 14 projects approved under JnNurm, out of which half did not materialise,” and he added BBMP failed to set up JnNurm funds utilisation cell.
