Bangalore blast: Involvement of sleeper cell from TN, Kerala suspected

Bangalore: Three people have been arrested in Chennai for their alleged involvement in the bomb blast near the Karnataka BJP office in Bangalore. The suspects are believed to have provided the motorcycle on which the bomb was placed.

Police is also probing the involvement of a sleeper cell from Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Police arrested Peer Mohideen and Basheer on Monday night, where as the third accused Kitchen Buhari was arrested on Tuesday morning. Bangalore Police team conducted the operation and they were assisted by Tamil Nadu Police.

The Karnataka government had announced a reward of Rs five lakh to those who provide information on the culprits responsible for the April 17 blast.

Meanwhile, NIA on Sunday conducted raids in Darbhanga and Samastipur districts in Bihar in connection with a suspect connected to Indian Mujahideen operative Yaseen Bhatkal. NIA was looking for Tahseen Akhtar, who is accused in several blast cases. NIA sources said his arrest could give vital clues on the Bangalore and Hyderabad blast cases.

The NIA on Friday also questioned eight suspects in connection with the Wednesday's attack after CCTV footage showed two men parking the bike outside the BJP office. Sixteen people including 11 policemen were injured in the blast which took place outside BJP's office in Malleshwaram.

Those questioned on Friday included four in Tamil Nadu, three in Bangalore and one in Kerala. They were questioned by the Bangalore Police and the NIA.
