CHENNAI: The 32nd Annual Conference of the Indian Association of Biomedical Scientists was held at the Centre for Nuclear Medicine, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The Association is a premier association of medicalscientists across India. The prestigious Dr Brammiah Sastri Memorial Award is given to a multifaceted research faculty with over 25 years of experience in a discipline by the Association. The Award for 2010 was given to Prof. S M Balaji for the craniofacial surgery and dental discipline. The award was given in recognition of his pioneering work in clinical application of recombinant Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 and rare craniofacial surgeries. He has also been honoured with several national and international awards including the Dr BC Roy award. His textbook on oral and maxillofacial Surgery is a well-received textbook, read by dentists from across the world. Dr RC Sobthi, Vice Chancellor of Panjab University presented the awards in the presence of Dr AK Singh, President of the Association.
