Karnataka: Even as several districts of Karnataka are facing drought, the state excise minister Manohar Tahsildar demanded a new SUV costing around Rs 25 lakh claiming he has 'back pain'.

According to the minister, he needs a new car as he has to travel from Bengaluru to his constituency in Hanagal (more than 300 km away in Haveri district), which causes him a lot of back pain. However, it is not clear whether he already got the SUV or not.

There are reports that he sought a Toyota Fortuner, which costs around 25 lakh. Presently he owns a Toyota Innova.

Sources said, as per Karnataka government's order an official car should not cost more than Rs 13 lakh.

It will be violation of directive if the government allots him the new SUV.
