Andrew Garfield will be cast as Peter Parker in the new Spiderman film to be directed by Mark Webb. Spider-Man swings back onto the screen in 3D on July 3, 2012. The relatively low profile actor was cast as the superhero over dozens of other hopefuls, Sony revealed in Cancun on Thursday evening.
Garfield is currently starring in David Fincher's upcoming film, The Special Network which is due for release in October and is about the founding of Facebook. He also plays the lead male opposite Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan in Mark Romanek's Never Let Me Go, due for release later this year.
