Amadubi Kalagram , an art village, was inaugurated on Friday at Amadubi in Dalbhumgarh, about 65 km from Jamshedpur, to mark the World Tourism day.
The art village was developed by the Jharkhand Tourism department in association with Village Tourism Development Committee (VTDC) and a NGO Kalamandi-The Celluloid Chapter Art Foundation to attract tourists and provide green livelihood opportunity to the local people.
Blessed by the serene beauty of nature, rhythm of mander and splashes of earthly colours painted on scrolls and walls of homes, Amadubi- the home of Pyatkar scroll painters, has plenty of scope to woo tourists, Jharkhand Rural Development and Tourism Minister, Suresh Paswan said while inaugurating it.
The purpose was to develop Jharkhand as tourist destination and promote the concept of sustainable rural tourism to safeguard and disseminate tribal and folk culture and tradition, he said while assuring that the state government would ensure involvement of local people in the tourism sector.
Kalamandir Secretary Amitabh Ghosh said the site was entirely developed in the local architecture style and would be looked after professionally by the VTDC.
A unique tourism product to showcase rich culture of tribals and abdundance of nature has been packaged in Amadubi rural tourism by Kalamandir with the support of Tourism department of Government of India and Jharkhand government, Ghose said.
