KOCHI: Heavy Metal fans in the state are getting ready to do some serious head banging this time. Come May 26, Lamb of God, one of the finest metalcore bands in the world, is all set to make its second coming to India as part of the band’s Resolution tour. Metalheads here are busy booking tickets and buying T-shirts for the adrenaline-pumping session of live rock music. The new wave American heavy metal band last played in Bangalore in 2010 and it was a concert that no metalhead would easily forget and this year, it’s going to be even heavy. “We are so excited to play in India again. Yes, it’s for the second time and we got very good response last time. That’s why we decided to come back to say hello to India,” says Lamb of God’s drummer Chris Adler.“During the first gig in India, we found that many of the Indian fans really enjoyed our 2004 album Ashes of the wake. So I think we are going to play some new record this time.” he said. On Indian bands, he said: “The one band that I really admire is Sky Harbor and that’s one of the reasons why we’ve roped them to do the opening act for us. There are some more bands I like but I don’t know their names.” “We are going to do probably 18 to 20 songs and try to include songs from every record. Out of the 20 songs four to six songs will be from the new record Resolution, which is our seventh album,” says Chris. And there will be songs from Ashes of the Wake and Wrath, including In your words, Set to fail, Grace and Contractor. “And my all-time favourite record is As the Places Burn and I’m very proud of our new album Resolution,” he said. The band based in Virginia, US, is starting their Resolution tour first from India. The show, to be held in Bangalore, is jointly organised by Nokia and Overture, a Bangalore based company. The band consists Chris Adler on drums, John Campbell on bass guitar, Mark Morton on guitar, Randy Blythe on Vocals and Willie Adler on guitar.”The best thing about India is its vegetarian food. It’s been twenty years since I became a vegetarian. Even at home I make Indian food at least three times a week,” Chris avers.“Our first show did really well and it was a great time to come to a new place. So many fans showed up and we didn’t expect that it will be much bigger than we thought. This time the show will be more aggressive than the last one. It’s fun for us to feel some new authentic culture and meet different people, he says.Their new album Resolution comes with soul-shredding riffs and pounding drums and has the signature LoG essence embedded in it. Chris says: “This is our seventh record and is way different from what we’ve done before. The best thing about Resolution is that it includes a style of everything that we’ve done before. So tried to make it more dynamic and progressive than all our previous records. We always want everything to be different and make sure it will surprise our fans. We’ve been quite explorative in this and had more of song writing. The new one is much more aggressive than Wrath.”India is still a new audience for us. The last time we played here, we had people travelling from across the country to watch us perform. They are excited about our music and very appreciative too. The crowd went crazy last time and thoroughly enjoyed our lineup. This time, we have a different lineup. We have two bands from India - Sky Harbor and Bhayanak Maut - who will do the supporting act.The three-time Grammy nominated band will be touring everywhere till 2013 and says, “Hopefully in 2014 will think about a new album. There are difficulties while touring everywhere. In India, sometimes the stage looks a bit funny,” he says (laughs).Chris has a word of advice for budding drummers, “Be passionate about it. Unless you find the drive, the want, the need within yourself to continue and push yourself through the frustrations, it’s not going to happen. Anyone can play drums or any instrument for that matter, it all depends how much you want it and how much you are willing to dedicate to it.” Tickets for the show is on sale at www.bookmyshow.com/nokiaalive
