In Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case, a forensic expert appeared in as a defence witness in a court in Ghaziabad on Monday and said that the two victims could not have been killed using a surgical scalpel and a golf stick, as claimed by the prosecution.
R.K. Sharma, defence witness and head of the forensic department at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), told Special Judge S. Lal that the prosecution theory on the injuries inflicted on teenager Aarushi and her domestic help Hemraj was faulty.
He also attributed the swelling found in Hemraj's genitals after the killing to decay and ruled out any other reason for it. Sharma was the fourth defence witness appearing on behalf of the teenager's parents and suspects Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, who are out on bail.
The recording of statements in the court would continue on Tuesday, said defence lawyer Manoj Sisodia. Aarushi, 14, was found murdered at her parents' Noida flat May 16, 2008. The body of Hemraj was found the next day on the terrace of the house.
