Aamir won't say sorry over remarks
Aamir Khan says he will not apologise for his stand on the rehabilitation of people evicted because of the dam.

Mumbai: Multiplexes in Gujarat have demanded an apology from Aamir Khan for his comments over the Narmada dam issue.

However, Aamir Khan has said that he will not apologise for his stand on the rehabilitation of people evicted because of the dam on River Narmada.

He says he was only speaking for the displaced.

"These people are losing their homes, their farms, their schools and their temples and mosques. Now the Government must rehabilitate them. This is all what I had said. Should I apologise for it? There's no question of an apology," he said.

The issue has now taken a political turn with both the Congress and the BJP demading the film be banned.

"If BJP says that I must apologise for my statement, then it's very wrong. I will never apologise on this issue, because I have raised my voice for the poor. I want people who have been displaced to be rehabilitated," he said.

Meanwhile, Adlabs, a company that runs multiplexes has decided to screen Fanaa, but other multiplex owners are still negotiating with the producer, Yash Raj Films.

Yash Raj Films had asked multiplexes for a higher cut from the ticket sales.

However, the suspense over Fanaa's release in multiplexes means increased business for single screen theatres, where advance bookings are on for the Friday release.

The movie is in controversy for other reasons also.
