Eight-year-old Mrityunjay, all set to blaze a record in running an 80-km stretch, collapsed on the way.
Mumbai: Another Budhia in the making, eight-year-old Mrityunjay Mandal from Orissa was on his way to blaze a record in Mumbai on Sunday.
But the young boy collapsed at Kemps Corner while running.
Mrityunjay was to run 80 kilometres from Kalyan to the Gateway of India and was aiming to achieve the feat in just six to seven hours.
His parents did not take any chances and his father had said that Mrityunjay had been medically examined and there would be two ambulances following him.
The little wonder, before starting the marathon, said he was running to spread the message of world peace and seemed excited about it. “Not just 80 but I am ready to run 100 kilometres,'' he had said enthusiastically.
