New Delhi: The human remains found from a drain near Nithari village, which shocked the nation with a horrific tale of serial killings, were of four women and 15 children, including 11 girls, forensic tests have revealed.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the demonic crime, said on Tuesday that the remains discovered by the agency and police included 16 "complete" and three "incomplete" skulls.
The forensic tests on the skulls at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here have revealed that four of them were of adult women, while the approximate age groups of 15 children were yet to be determined.
Incidentally, the Uttar Pradesh police had also registered 19 cases of murder and abduction after the remains were discovered December 29.
CBI officials, however, clarified that the registration of 19 cases and the discovery of 19 skulls among the remains do not necessarily indicate that there were only 19 victims of the gruesome killings.
After the forensic tests, the remains were sent to the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) at Hyderabad for DNA profiling, they said.
The exact number of victims could be ascertained only after the DNA profiling, they added.
Moninder Singh Pandher, a businessman and resident of Noida, near Nithari, and his domestic aide Surendra Koli, were arrested on charges of kidnapping, sexual molestation and murder.
Meanwhile, CBI's Special Crime team was conducting a polygraph test of Maya, a domestic help who earlier worked for Pandher and allegedly lured children from the village.
Maya's first lie detector test was declared "inconclusive" and she will have to face a fresh test after some time along with Koli and Pandher, they said.
