SAMBALPUR: Naktideul and Ainthapali Police on Sunday seized nearly 3.5 quintals of hemp in two separate hauls. The Naktideul police seized the contraband weighing 99 kg after intercepting five motorcycles at Bindpur Chhak near Jamujori on Angabira-Naktideul Road. Six persons, including a SPO, a college student and a school clerk, were arrested. They have been identified SPO Sambhu Sahu (21), Asish Seth (19) of Baghbar village, Gobinda Nayak (23), a college student of Kunjamura village, Purusottam Pradhan (45), a school clerk of Ambajhari village and Raju Kisan (24) of Keutberni, all under Naktideul police limits, besides one Aurobindo Nayak (41) of Podapada village in Angul district. In a separate incident, the Ainthapali Police arrested one Bhabani Prasad Badi and seized 2.5 quintals of hemp. The police intercepted the car at Durgapali and seized the contraband worth about ` 12.5 lakh. The accused have been remanded in judicial custody.
