Anumula Revanth Reddy, the man behind the victory of Congress in Telangana Assembly polls, took oath as the Chief Minister of Telangana on Thursday, December 7. The swearing-in took place at a grand ceremony at Hyderabad’s LB Stadium in the presence of top party leaders, including the Gandhis.
Following Reddy’s swearing-in, Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state. In addition to this, 10 other Congress leaders also took the oath of office.
Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra attended the grand swearing-in ceremony. Along with the Congress’ top leadership, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar also attended the ceremony.

Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka
Bhatti, who was a chief ministerial candidate, took oath as Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s deputy on Thursday. It is important to note that the Congress veteran, who was in the race to become Telangana Chief Minister, had also served as the Leader of the Opposition in the outgoing state Assembly, which was ruled by the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS). He has also been an MLA in 2009 and 2014.
Nalamda Uttam Kumar Reddy
Uttam Kumar Reddy, a former Indian Air Force pilot, won from Huzurnagar constituency in the recently concluded Telangana Assembly polls. Notably, he is a member of Lok Sabha’s standing committee on defence. Reddy, a seven-time election-winner and party loyalist was the chief of the Telangana Congress before Revanth Reddy took over the position in 2021.
C Damodar Rajanarasimha:
Cilarapu Damodar Raja Narasimha was the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh from 2011 to 2014, before the formation of Telangana as a state. He won from the Andole Assembly seat in the 2023 Telangana polls.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy is another big name in Telangana politics with a career of spanning over three decades. Reddy was another Congress Lok Sabha MP who participated in the November 30 Assembly polls. Reddy won the Nalgonda seat, which he won thrice between 1999 and 2009. He, however, lost the seat to BRS’ KB Reddy in 2018.
D Sridhar Babu
Duddilla Sridhar Babu was Chairman of the Congress’ manifesto committee. A member of the Brahmin community, Babu was also an MLA in the undivided Andhra Pradesh government while the Congress was in power. He had also served as the Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs in the previous Congress government.
Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy
Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy won the Palair constituency for the Congress party in Telangana polls. Reddy earlier was elected from the Khammam Lok Sabha seat in 2014 on a ticket from the YSR Congress party.
Ponnam Prabhakar
Active in politics since his college days, Ponnam Prabhakar won from the from Husnabad seat.
Konda Surekha
Surekha won the Warangal (East) Assembly seat against BJP with a huge margin of 67,757 votes. It was in 2014 when she won the elections for the first time.
Dana Anasuya
Anasuya, popularly called Seethakka, was a member of a Naxalite group before she joined politics. A member of a tribal community from Mulugu district, Anasuya is a trained lawyer and won the Mulug Assembly seat for Congress in the Telangana elections that took place on November 30.
Thummala Nageswar Rao
Rao was a three-time MLA with ex-Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP before he joined BRS in 2014. He quit the BRS and joined the Congress ahead of this high-stakes Telangana polls as he was denied a ticket from BRS.
Jupally Krishna Rao
Rao, who started as an independent candidate, was elected to the Kollapur Assembly seat for five consecutive terms starting in 1999.
