Ranji Trophy, Group C: Jadhav hits double ton for Maharashtra; HP in command
Kedar Jadhav scored a double ton as Maharashtra were in a commanding position at the end of second day's play against Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: Maharashtra rode on a double century from Kedar Jadhav and a ton from Rohit Motwani to find themselves at a commanding position at the end of second day’s play in the Ranji Trophy Group C match against Hyderabad on Thursday.

Jadhav scored 204 off 267 deliveries (29×4, 1×6), while Motwani hit a 239-ball 107 laced with nine fours to power Maharashtra to 616 for 9 declared. Sangram Dilp Atitkar (98) also chipped in with valuable runs.

At stumps on day two, Hyderabad were on 53 for no loss with TL Suman unbeaten on 28 and Akshath Reddy on 20.

Resuming on 337 for 4, overnight batsmen Jadhav and Motwani completed their double century and hundred, respectively. The duo also put on 145-run stand for the fifth wicket.

Motwani then coupled with Atitkar to put on a solid 179 runs together for the sixth wicket. M Ravi Kiran finished with four for 116, while Amol Shinde took three wickets.

Himachal in command against J&K

At Dharamsala, Paras Dogra led a fine batting display with a sparkling 96 as Himachal Pradesh posted 454 all out in their first innings to place themselves in command of their Group C Ranji Trophy match.

Besides Dogra, who hit 16 fours from 185 balls, three other Himachal batsmen – captain Rishi Dhawan (50), Bipul Sharma (74) and Akshay Chauhan (53) – scored half centuries to give the home side a huge first innings lead of 276 runs.

The home side added 362 runs on Friday after resuming the day on 92 for 1 at the HPCA Stadium.

Jammu and Kashmir, who were bundled out for 178 in their first innings, were 14 for one in their second essay at the draw of stumps.

Opener Adil Rishi and Manik Gupta were batting on 12 and one respectively. The visitors now trail by 262 runs with nine second innings wickets remaining.

Assam and Andhra share day 2 honours

At Anantpur, Assam today lost their top-order, chasing Andhra Pradesh’s first innings total of 297 on day two of their Ranji Trophy Group C match.

Assam were 116 for 4 with opener Dhiraj Yadav (44) and Niral Patel (0) at the crease, still trailing by 181 runs.

Andhra Pradesh resumed at 233 for 5 and added 64 runs to their overnight total. B Sumanth was top scorer for them with a 75-run knock which came off 205 balls with 12 fours.

Abu Nechim (5 for 62) was the pick of the bowlers for Assam with a five-wicket haul.
