How to Recalibrate a Rechargeable Battery
How to Recalibrate a Rechargeable Battery
Sometimes, batteries can lose their charge state as they get older. This can cause issues where the battery meter can read a higher or lower charge than what is actually available in the battery, which makes it harder to see how much time you have left until the battery dies.[1]

Luckily, it is possible to recalibrate the rechargeable battery in almost any device. While this will not increase the life of the battery, it will allow you to get an accurate measurement of the amount of life that is left in your battery.[2]

This wikiHow will teach you how to recalibrate your battery.
Steps

Prevent your device from going to sleep. It is important that the power usage stays as constant as possible. As such, you should not let your computer go to sleep while you are calibrating its battery. On Windows, open Start Windows Start > Settings Windows Settings > System > Power & sleep, and then set both settings for turning off the screen and sleeping to "Never". On MacOS, click the Apple menu > click System Preferences > Energy Saver, and then drag both sliders over to "Never". For other devices, such as phones, you can let them turn off their screens, just don't use them during this process.

Plug your device in and let it charge until it reaches 100%. Keep it charging for two hours after it reaches 100%.

Disconnect the charger and let the device discharge completely. Do not use your device while it is discharging, and let it sit for about 5 hours after it completely discharges.

Plug the charger back in and recharge the battery back up to 100%. You can use your device while it is recharging.

Change the power setting back to what they were. Once you have finished synchronizing your battery, you can change your devices power settings back to their original settings.
