Panaji: With Dempo Sports Club failing to defend the I-League title and unlikely to finish among the top three this year, coach Armando Colaco is unlikely to get an extension of his contract for the next season.
Colaco joined Dempo in 2000 when the club faced its worst crisis as the team got relegated to the second division of the I-League. But the former Dempo player worked hard which saw them win a record five I-League titles in the last eight years.
Riddled with controversy and injuries to their key players which saw Dempo failing to defend the title, club chairman Shrinivas Dempo is unlikely to extend coach Armando's contract for next season and instead may go in for a foreign coach.
Pailan Arrows coach Arthur Papas is the front-runner for the post. Another name doing the rounds is of Dutch international Mike Snoei.
Snoei has been an assistant with Dutch coach Henk ten Cate, who has worked with Barcelona FC, Panathinaikos, Greece (2008-2010), Al Ahli, Dubai (2010), Umm Salal SC of Qatar (2010-11) and Shandong Luneng, China (2011-12).
