Anand Pawar and Arundhati Pantawane managed to win their opening matches of the men's and women's singles but failed to make it to the main draw.
Pawar beat Japan's Kento Momota 21-16, 21-17 before going down to Tien Chen Chou of Chinese Taipei 18-21, 21-19, 21-23 in his second match of the qualifiers.
Arundhati defeated compatriot P.C. Thulasi 15-21, 22-20, 22-20 but proved no match for Hong Kong's Ying Suet Tse in the next match, losing 12-15, 15-21.
Guru Sai Dutt lost his opening match to Japan's Keigo Sonoda 21-15, 14-21, 16-21.
Saina Nehwal, seeded fourth, plays her first-round match against Inthanon Ratchanok of Thailand on Wednesday.
