How to Make Moon Water
Fill a clear glass container with water. Mason jars or other glass containers with lids are a perfect choice. Colored or tinted containers could prevent energy from seeping into the water, but the type of container you use is completely up to you. Make sure to use clean, safe water if you’re planning on consuming your moon water.
Add crystals, flowers, or herbs to the water. This is an optional step but can give your water an extra energy boost. When it charges, whatever’s in the water will release energy into the water. Check out this additions and benefits: Basil adds prosperity. Rose petals add beauty. Dried lavender adds relaxation. Citrus peels add happiness. Amethyst adds intention.
Set an intention for the water. Hold the container of water in your hands and close your eyes. Imagine a specific want or goal coming true. Your intention will give the water purpose and a reason to take in the moon’s energy. Repeating a mantra or prayer allowed is also a great way to set an intention. For example, your intention could be “I wish to release __” or “I invite __ into my life.”
Place the water in direct moonlight. Set your container of water out at night in a spot where the moon’s light will touch it. Maybe that’s outside or on a windowsill. When you choose to charge your water is totally up to you, but many witches recommend doing so during a full moon or lunar event, like an eclipse. The phase of the moon and the astrological season will alter the energy of your moon water. For example, you may want to charge moon water under a new moon if you’re looking to create intentions and wishes. If it’s cloudy out, don’t worry! Moon water can still charge in indirect light, but its energetic properties may fade faster.
Leave the water to charge overnight. Take the water inside before the sun rises. If your charged moon water gets in contact with sunlight, its properties will quickly change. Label your moon water’s container with the moon phase and time it was charged. For example, your label may say something like, “Full Moon in Scorpio, May 2022.”
