This wikiHow teaches you how to find out which version of CentOS is running on a computer.

Log in to the CentOS system. If you’re signing in from a remote computer, use ssh to make your connection.

Open a terminal window. You’ll only have to do this if you’re using the CentOS GUI on a desktop computer. If you’re signed in via ssh, you’re already at the command prompt and can skip this step.

Type cat /etc/centos-release and press ↵ Enter. The version number will appear on the next line. You can also use cat / etc/redhat-release to get the version number.
