After the success of the first two parts of the Marvel Universe superhero franchise Venom, fans have been waiting for the third instalment. The third edition of the Venom franchise has now been officially titled Venom: The Last Dance. Moreover, Sony Pictures has announced the new release date for the film as well. The film’s release date has been set for October 25, 2024, from the previously announced November 8 schedule.
As per Variety, the plot details for Venom: The Last Dance are yet unknown, but Tom Hardy will return as the lethal protector Eddie Brock/Venom in the film, which also stars Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Clark Backo. Eddie Brock/ Venom was last seen in the 2021 Spider-Man: No Way Home post-credits sequence. Additionally, Kelly Marcel will make her feature directorial debut with this production. She is also involved in the screenplay developed along with Tom Hardy. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Hutch Parker, Marcel, and Hardy are producing the film. The first two Venom films were commercial hits. The two, 2018’s Venom by Ruben Fleischer and the 2021 sequel Venom: Let Andy Serkis direct carnage, earned about $1.3 billion at the box office.
Earlier during the SAG Awards 2024, Juno Temple told Variety, “We’re coming close to an end at the moment. It’s been a wild, wonderful ride. It’s so new to me. It’s a big set! This is crazy. It’s been so much fun, and I got to work with such cool people. I’ve been so lucky in my career to just have the most incredible casts. I can’t wait for it to get out into the world. I think it’s going to be a good one.”
Moreover, Juno Temple had also spoken about Tom Hardy playing the vital character and what it meant to him. Stating why Tom Hardy was the perfect fit for Venom on screen, Juno said, “His relationship to how he feels about Venom and Eddie together… is something that feels really close to his heart. It matters to him. I don’t know if anyone else could play Venom. That’s a tough pair of shoes to follow.” Reportedly, the SAG-AFTRA strike interrupted production of Venom 3 last year. The cameras began rolling again at the end of November.
