Fenerbahce head coach Jose Mourinho has hit the headlines after a unique protest during his side’s Turkish Super Lig fixture against Antalyaspor on Sunday.

The incident took place after Edin Dzeko’s goal was ruled out due to an offside. The Portuguese head coach did not agree with the verdict and decided to place his laptop in front of a TV camera in a bid to prove that the official’s judgement was erroneous.

Mourinho’s move did not pay off much as he was later booked by referee Cihan Aydin for the distinctive style of dissent.

Fenerbahce were leading by a margin of one goal to nil when Dzeko succeeded in finding the back of the net. But to Fenerbahce’s utter dismay, the goal was, eventually, ruled out.

The decision, however, did not have a bearing on the outcome of the game, as Fenerbahce went on to win the fixture, courtesy of a goal scored by Dusan Tadic in the 63rd minute. Tadic was assisted by Fred.

Mourinho recently found himself embroiled in a controversy after he decided not to attend a post-match news conference following his side’s 3-1 Istanbul derby loss to Galatasaray.

A from ESPN claimed that Mourinho said he did not turn up for the presser after being “felt disrespected” for having been made to wait over an hour to talk to the journalists.

“In 24 years of football, I never in my life escaped from a press conference, especially after a defeat,” said Mourinho.

“I never had fear of any journalist, any question or any press conference. So [it] wouldn’t be with you that I was going to change my way of being,” added Mourinho who had previously handled managerial duties at clubs like Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Fenerbahce are now at the second spot in the Turkish Super Lig having collected 16 points from seven games. They are currently three points behind toppers Galatasaray, who have managed to remain unbeaten. Fenerbahce will next be seen in action against FC Twente in the Europa League fixture scheduled to be played on Thursday.
