Scolari still keen on bringing Robinho to Chelsea
Robinho has declared that he was eager to sign on at Stamford Bridge.

New Delhi: Luiz Felipe Scolari may have missed out on signing Robinho during the summer, but the Chelsea manager has revealed that the club's doors "are always open" to the Manchester City star.

When the news broke in August that Robinho was desperate to leave Real Madrid and try his hand in England, there seemed to be only one possible destination for the Brazilian ace.

Indeed, after falling out with Ramon Calderon - partly due to the Bernabeu President's fixation with Cristiano Ronaldo, it is thought - the 24-year-old went so far as to declare that he was eager to sign on at Stamford Bridge.

Instead, Robinho went to Eastlands in a British-record deal worth over €42 million, meaning Scolari would have to make do with the batch of forwards he already had at his disposal - until January, at least.

The former Brazil boss has made no secret of his dissatisfaction with his attacking stocks and, with City's form fluctuating as wildly as Florent Malouda's, there have been whispers that a surprise mega-money move for Robinho could be on the cards.

Scolari has done nothing to discourage those rumours, insisting that his compatriot could fulfil every ounce of his enormous potential if he made the switch to London.

"I am sure that Robinho would be the best player in the world if he came to play at Chelsea," he said in The Sun. "The Chelsea doors are always open to him."

However, with all signs indicating that the Blues are set for a fairly low-key January, a move for Robinho is unlikely to materialise until next summer - if at all.
