Manchester United Turns Down Initial Bids From Galatasaray For Scott McTominay: Report
Amid the ongoing transfer saga, Manchester Evening News have reported that the Old Trafford-based side is ‘understood’ to have disapproved of the early offers for McTominay from Turkey.

Manchester United have reportedly rejected Galatasaray’s initial bids for Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay.

The Red Devils have been quite busy in the ongoing transfer window as Erik ten Hag looks to raise funds to pave the way for certain big signings.

Amid the ongoing transfer saga, Manchester Evening News have reported that the Old Trafford-based side is ‘understood’ to have disapproved of the early offers for McTominay from Turkey.

The report suggests that while Galatasaray might have expressed their interest in McTominay, there are doubts if the Turkish side can match Manchester United’s valuation of the player.

Galatasaray vice-chairman Ibrahim Hatipoglu had already revealed talks were in place to secure a move for Scott McTominay to Turkey.

As per new media outlet Haber Sari Kimizi, he said, “McTominay’s transfer fee is being discussed.” Hatipoglu also voiced, “Negotiations are ongoing for McTominay and Doue. Wan-Bissaka is not our priority.”

The vice-chairman also expressed the club’s interest in Spurs midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

“Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a good player, he has many suitors, he wants to see all options. There is no talk of single-digit figures for right-back and midfield transfers. But we have allocated a budget of less than €10 million for right-back,” he concluded.

Scott McTominay was also believed to have been receptive to join London-based side West Ham last year. He found himself much below the pecking order due to the presence of stars like Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount and Casemiro.

However, injuries to the said players led to McTominay getting more opportunities. He eventually wrapped up the season with 43 appearances for Manchester United. He had embarked on a career-best campaign in the red shirt, scoring 10 goals.

West Ham had offered £30 million for McTominay last year but the Erik ten Hag-coached side wanted at least £10 million more. Ultimately no deal could be reached.

Scott McTominay has been very much in demand this summer with several Premier League clubs chasing the Scotsman’s signature. McTominay, at age 27, is far from the best midfielder in the world but has been an important squad member for Manchester United in the last few years. McTominay’s contract with the Red Devils is set to expire next year. There is also an option to sign for an additional year.

It is quite unlikely that Galatasaray will be able to afford Scott McTominay’s move to Turkey. High transfer fee aside, McTominay’s steep wages would likely be a hindrance in the speculated move. Manchester United, on the other hand, will be much more focused on getting rid of other players first to debloat the squad.
