London: Manchester United have retained top spot in the Forbes rich list as the most valuable club in world sport, despite their mouting debt of £741 million.
The respected business publication has valued the Premier Legue runners up at £1.2 billion to beat off competition from second placed NFL franchise the Dallas Cowboys. Arsenal and Real Madrid were the only other football sides in the top 10, with the Gunners in sixth place with a valuation of £860 million and the Galacticos handed eighth place with a worth of £770 million.
The results lends credence to the resistant of the Glazers to sell the Old Trafford to the 'Red Knights' investor group throghout last season. This stance led to mass protests at the American family's ownership and the infamous 'Green and Gold' campaign.
