According to a report in The Daily Mail, Alex Ferguson's first ever Manchester United team-sheet has been sold for 19,500 pounds at an auction, six times more than the asking price.

Ferguson left the club this year after spending 26 years at Old Trafford. He will now be the director and ambassador at the club after leaving the coaching job. United are preparing for life without Ferguson for the first time since 1986, with David Moyes preparing to take them into a defence of the Premier League title.

But the team-sheet, handwritten and signed by Ferguson ahead of a 2-0 loss to Oxford United on November 8, 1986 provides a reminder of the club the legendary manager inherited. The team-sheet was sold in Devizes, Wiltshire, to a British bidder for an Oxford fan - the team that triumphed over Ferguson's men on the day.

It was given a guide price of 3,000 pounds put reached the final price after bidding from China and America. Celebrated stars like Paul McGrath and stalwarts such as Arthur Albiston feature on the sheet, alongside less-remembered players like keeper Chris Turner and Graeme Hogg.

Ferguson's first XI: Chris Turner, Mike Duxbury, Arthur Albiston, Kevin Moran , Paul McGrath, Graeme Hogg , Clayton Blackmore, Remi Moses, Frank Stapleton, Peter Barnes, Jesper Olsen.
