The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) commenced the recruitment process for the post of GD Constables. They started accepting applications from November 24, 2023. The last date to submit the applications is December 31, whereas the application correction window will be opened from January 4 to January 6, 2024. Candidates who have passed the 10th class can visit the official website at ss.nic.in to apply for the posts. The commission aims at filling up a total of 26,146 vacancies through the recruitment process. These vacancies have been rolled out for the posts of Constable (General Duty) in the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Secretariat Security Force (SSF) and Rifleman (General Duty) in Assam Rifles (AR).
It is pertinent to note that out of these, 2,799 vacancies are reserved for female candidates. To encourage women, the armed forces have begun increasing the number of females; whereas the government is also trying everything in its might to recruit the maximum number of women in the forces. In one such move, the commission has granted relaxation for the women applicants. They will not be charged any fee while filling out the application form. Apart from this, they are being granted relaxation in parameters like PET and height.
SSC GD Constable Recruitment: PET/PST 2024
In the physical efficiency test, male candidates will be required to run a 5 km race, which needs to be completed within 24 minutes. Females will need to run 1.6 km within 8 ½ minutes. Coming to the physical standard tests, the height of males applying for the position must be 170 cm; whereas for females, it has been fixed to be 157 cm or above.
SSC GD Constable Recruitment: Eligibility
To be eligible for the SSC GD Constable 2023 recruitment, candidates must be between 18 to 25 years as of 1st January 2024. As far as educational qualification is concerned, they are required to pass the 10th class or equivalent examination from a recognised Board or University. They must meet the specified physical standards for height, weight, chest expansion and running, to apply for the examination.
