On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, as many as 50 educators from across the country will be presented with the National Teachers Award 2024 by President Draupadi Murmu. The event to be held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi will commence at 4:15 pm. The teachers will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with a silver medal and certificate.
Every year, eligible and interested candidates submit the application forms for the National Teacher’s Award. The award is open to all the faculty members of colleges, universities, higher educational institutions as well as polytechnics across the country. The purpose of the National Award to Teachers 2024 in Higher Educational Institutions is to acknowledge the distinctive contributions of some of the finest faculty members in India and honour their efforts in bringing change in the lives of students and impacting the overall education system.

The selection procedure for the National Teachers Award 2024 is a two-step process. It includes a preliminary search cum screening committee for initial shortlisting of candidates followed by forming a committee of ‘jury’ which selects the final section of awardees from the shortlisted candidates.
Last year, 75 teachers were presented with the National Teachers’ Award. Of the total, as many as 50 are school teachers, 13 are from higher education, and 12 are from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
