In a recent video posted by Loveena Kamath on her YouTube channel ‘Full Disclosure’, the earnings of Swiggy and Zomato delivery agents in Bengaluru have sparked significant interest. Kamath interviewed delivery agents from both platforms and uncovered surprising details about their income, which she claims surpasses the average IT engineer in the region. Kamath says an average IT engineer in Bengaluru earns around Rs 20,000 per month. However, the delivery agents she interviewed reported earning double that amount.
For instance, Shiva, a 22-year-old delivery agent with Swiggy, claims to earn between Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 monthly. Having worked in this role for three years, Shiva credits his income to a base pay of Rs 20 per food order. He said, he earns an extra Rs 5,000 monthly by tips. Over the past six months, he has managed to save Rs. 2 lakh, aspiring to use these savings to establish a local business in his village.
Similarly, Taiyappa, a delivery person with Zomato, also asserts earning Rs 40,000 monthly after three years on the job.
In the video, she noted that many delivery partners view the job as a lucrative short-term opportunity rather than a long-term career. Additionally, Kamath highlighted that delivery personnel typically work 12 to 13 hours daily to attain their reported income levels.
Kamath’s video, shared on various social media platforms including Instagram, has sparked diverse reactions. While some viewers admire the financial opportunities in food delivery services, others caution against comparing these roles with engineering careers due to differences in long-term prospects and job conditions.
