Despite extreme hard work and dedication, a few aspirants may fail to clear the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). Every year, many students across the country attempt the UGC NET to pursue higher education or research in their chosen field of study, but not all taste success. Teaching Career
One of the most suitable jobs for aspirants who want to continue their career in the teaching field is to teach in schools. Applicants who wish to pursue a profession in teaching but have not passed the UGC-NET may do so by earning a degree that meets the requirements in their field of study. For instance, those who are interested in teaching must have a BEd degree.
Other Government Exams and Higher Education
There are plenty of options that a candidate can apply for when it comes to government exams. One can try their hand at exams such as UPSC CSE, SSC CGL, bank exams, etc. The basic qualification required for these exams is graduation or any other specification, depending on the requirement.
If candidates do not pass the UGC NET, they may still appear for the PhD qualifying exams offered by the relevant universities in order to enrol in PhD programmes in those subjects.
Corporate Sector
Candidates might find plenty of opportunities in the corporate sector. Based on one’s skill set and qualifications, candidates can find alternative career paths in job roles like content writing, translation, journalism, and so on.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the UGC-NET examination that determines the eligibility of individuals for the post of ‘Assistant Professor’ as well as ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in universities and colleges. It is to be noted that the National Testing Agency conducted the UGC-NET in December 2023 for 9,45,918 candidates from December 6 to December 19, 2023 in 83 subjects in 292 cities across the country.
