Team India came up with a sterling performance with the ball on Day 1 of the second Test against South Africa at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town on Wednesday.
The Indian pace unit was on song as the seamer bundled out the Proteas batting order for a cheap total of 55 runs in the first inning of the fixture. Mohammed Siraj was the wrecker-in-chief as he scalped 6 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar dismissed two batters each.
In the 16 over of the game, with South Africa reeling at 34 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, star Indian player Virat Kohli, who was fielding at slips, instructed pacer Siraj to deliver an outswinger, which the 29-year-old did, resulting in the dismissal of Protea batter Marco Jansen.

South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first as the Indian pace unit’s menace started early on in the game. Siraj began his rampant run with the dismissal of opener Aiden Markram for 2 runs before he cleaned out the wicket of Dean Elgar for 4.
Jasprit Bumrah removed Tristan Stubbs for his first scalp of the game before Siraj sent Tony de Zorzi for just 2 runs.
Siraj went on to complete his 6-fer with the dismissals of Bedingham, Marco Jansen and Kyle Verreynne and to leave South Africa in a dire situation.
Mukesh Kumar struck twice as he sent back Proteas tail-enders Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada, while Bumrah got rid of Nandre Burger as South Africa were wrapped up for 55 runs.
India opened their innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Rohit Sharma as Rabada dismissed the former for a duck. However, Rohit and Shubman Gill steadied the Indian innings with a 55-run partnership before the captain fell to Burger after making 39 runs.
Burger scalped his second of the game as he sent Gill back to the hut for 36 runs, before dismissing Shreyas Iyer for a duck.
Kohli and KL Rahul were at the crease as India led by 79 runs at the end of 29 overs.
