India cricketer Rishabh Pant is inching closer to competitive return and continues to share glimpses of his training session. Pant is expected to make his long-awaited return on the cricket field through IPL 2024 where he will lead Delhi Capitals.
Pant crashed his car in December 2022 and suffered horrific injuries that needed surgeries. The unfortunate incident meant he missed a host of major tournaments including IPL, final of World Test Championship. 2023 ODI World Cup among others.
The BCCI didn’t want to rush his comeback and adopted a cautious approach.
In a latest clip shared on his social media handles, Pant can be seen working out in a gym.

Earlier this month Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal had revealed that Pant will be fully fit for the upcoming IPL season and will lead the franchise. However, for the first seven matches he will play purely as a batter.
“Rishabh is batting. He’s running. He has started his wicketkeeping. He is likely to be fully fit for the IPL. I am expecting Rishabh to play IPL and he will lead from match one. First seven games we are going to play him only as a batter and depending on how his body reacts, we will take a call for the rest of the IPL,” Jindal told ESPNcricinfo.
Last week, Pant had shared a clip of him undergoing wicketkeeping drills raising hopes he will also don the gloves for his franchise.
DC will start their IPL 2024 campaign when they take on Punjab Kings in Mohali on March 23.
In Pant’s absence last year, Australian David Warner led DC and they endured a poor season, finishing ninth in the 10-team competition. They managed five wins and suffered 9 defeats.
The 26-year-old’s last competitive appearance was a Test match between India and Bangladesh in Mirpur in December 2022. He scored 93 and 9 in the two innings as India completed a thrilling three-wicket win.
