Harbhajan Singh recently spoke on the upcoming T20I World Cup scheduled in the United States on his YouTube channel. The spin legend opined that the upcoming ICC tournament would mark a new chapter in India’s ace batter Virat Kohli’s career. He rubbished the reports that claimed there were doubts about Kohli being a certainty for the 2024 T20I World Cup. He said, “A player like Virat Kohli not winning a World Cup? I can’t digest it.” He then talked about how the star batter must have his eyes set on the trophy. “The IPL is coming and then there is the World Cup. Virat Kohli’s bat will make the same noise as before, probably louder. Of course, Virat has that World Cup trophy (on mind)”, Harbhajan said.

Virat Kohli withdrew from India’s recent five-match Test series against England due to the birth of his son Akaay on February 15 this year. The former skipper will currently be focused on the upcoming IPL season following which he is also expected to represent the Men in Blue in the T20I World Cup in June.
Speaking of Harbhajan Singh, the Indian bowler is widely known as one of the best and most accomplished spinners in cricket history. In the era of wrist spin, Harbhajan was one of the few players who kept the flag flying high for fingerspin. Harbhajan announced himself to the world in March 2001 when he proved just too mighty for the all-conquering Australians.

The Indian spinner scalped 32 wickets in three Tests while also achieving the feat of the first-ever hat trick in the format by an Indian. He also represented India in the inaugural T20I World Cup as he strived to adapt his game to suit the shorter format. He was also a crucial squad member in India’s 2002 Champions Trophy triumph.
Alongside his shiny ICC trophies, Harbhajan Singh also accumulated some impressive numbers on the cricket pitch. He represented India in 103 Tests, 236 ODIs and 28 T20I matches which shows the longevity of the spinner’s career. In these matches, Harbhajan accumulated 711 wickets while also scoring 3569 runs.
