'Please Remove this Impact Sub Thing,' Says RCB Pacer Mohammed Siraj Amid Run Fest at IPL 2024
RCB seamer Mohammed Siraj revealed his distress regarding the rule as the teams have begun using an extra batter in their lineup. The pacer said that bowlers have been stiffed as a result of the rule.

The Indian Premier League 2024 season is in full swing and the latest instalment of the T20 extravaganza has witnessed multiple mammoth scores being scored, as the true effect of the impact players took batting to new levels in the tournament.

RCB seamer Mohammed Siraj revealed his distress regarding the rule as the teams have begun using an extra batter in their lineup. The pacer said that bowlers have been stiffed as a result of the rule.

“Please remove this impact sub thing,” the pacer laughed.

He went on to add that the wickets in recent times and the tendency of batters to come in swinging haven’t helped the cause of the bowlers.

“The wickets are already flat and there’s nothing for the bowlers in it, previously, it used to be slow at times, but the batters now come out swinging at absolutely everything,” he added.

His concerns echo that of MI star batter and India skipper Rohit Sharma, who felt that the rule has been holding all-rounders back.

Speaking on a podcast, Rohit stated, “I am not a big fan of Impact sub rule.”

“It is going to hold all-rounders back, eventually cricket is played by 11 players, not 12 players,” the 36-year-old opening batter said.

He went on to add that the impact player rule has made the game more entertaining but at the cost of certain crucial aspects of the game.

“You are taking out so much from the game to make it entertaining for people around,” the Indian national cricket team’s captain said.

He used the examples of all-rounders such as Shivam Dube, being used as pure batters, which does not bode well for the national side.

“If you look just from the cricketing aspect of it I feel guys like Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar aren’t getting to bowl, which for us is not a good thing,” Rohit explained.
