'Only Available On Twitter, Instagram': Lokesh Kanagaraj On His Fake Facebook ID
A few posts with Lokesh's Facebook profile recently went viral on social media on December 13.

Lokesh Kanagaraj, acclaimed for his directorial prowess and pan-India success with the film Vikram, recently issued a cautionary statement to his fans. Taking to Twitter, he emphasised that he is only active on Twitter and Instagram, urging followers to disregard any other social media accounts purportedly associated with him. This declaration followed a recent hacking incident involving a Facebook account under Lokesh’s name. Addressing the situation on Twitter, he stated, “Hey all, I’m only available on Twitter and Instagram, I do not have or use any other social media accounts. Please feel free to ignore and unfollow any other hoax accounts!” View the tweet here.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s last directorial venture was the Thalapathy Vijay starrer Leo. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the film emerged as a box office success, grossing over Rs 600 crore worldwide. Featuring an ensemble cast including Trisha Krishnan, Sanjay Dutt, Priya Anand, and Arjun, among others, Leo showcased Lokesh’s directorial finesse. The director drew inspiration from David Cronenberg’s 2005 film A History of Violence, stating, “It inspired me to write Leo. A History of Violence left its mark on me and this movie was born. Leo is my tribute. The success of Leo means a lot to me and the entire team.”

Lokesh Kanagaraj has not only made waves in direction but has ventured into production with his production house, G Squad. His maiden production, titled Fight Club, features Vijay Kumar in the lead role and is scheduled for release on December 15. The film, certified A by the Central Board For Film Certification, promises an action-packed drama with intense fight sequences. Debutant Abbas A. Rahmath has written and directed the film, marking Lokesh’s expansion into film production.

Reflecting on the challenges and opportunities within Tamil cinema, Lokesh acknowledged the significance of effective writing, stating, “There are opportunities at every stage of filmmaking; it’s all about how you utilize them. When it comes to challenges, I would say ‘writing’ because it anchors the entire process.”
