Seven arrested for leaking Petroleum & Natural Gas Ministry documents
A Delhi court remanded four of the accused in police custody till February 23 and three in judicial custody for two weeks.

Delhi: Seven people have been arrested for being involved in leaking documents of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. Those arrested include a former business journalist running a petro website, a Melbourne-based energy consultant and a government official.

According to Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi investigations are on to ascertain if the accused worked for an individual or a company. Those arrested have been charged for taking out sensitive documents from the ministry and selling it to top business houses including Reliance Industries Limited, Essar, ADAG Reliance, Cairns and Jubilant Energy.

"We have arrested five persons. Shailesh Saxena from RIL, Vinay Kumar from Essar, KK Naik from Cairns, Subhash Chandra from Jubilant Energy and Rishi Anand from ADAG Reliance," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.

Reacting to the development, Reliance Industries issued a statement saying the company has launched an internal probe.

"It has been brought to our notice that one personnel has been detained by law-enforcement authorities. We are unaware of more details. An internal probe is underway as per our robust internal standards. The matter is under investigation as per law and we are determined to cooperate in every possible manner. We are already in International Arbitration with the said ministry on all important matters. Our only expectation is a fair and expeditious resolution of our legal rights and contentions by the arbitrators," the statement said.
