RBI Chief Rajan Mum on 2nd Term, Says Long Term Plan is to Teach
Rajan said that his long term plan is to teach. "My long term plan is to get back into academics, to teach and to go for research," he added.

Refusing to "add any fuel to the fire", Raghuram Rajan has chosen to stay silent on speculations over his second term as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.

"You will get to know when it happens. I would not like to comment on the issue right now. The announcement over my tenure will be made between now and September 4 when my term ends," he said in an exclusive interview to CNBC Awaaz.

However, Rajan said that his long term plan is to teach. "My long term plan is to get back into academics, to teach and to go for research," he added.

Rajan had on Tuesday said the decision on his reappointment will be taken after a discussion with the Centre. "The decision is taken after discussion between the incumbent and the government. The best I can do is to point you towards the statements of the Finance Minister and the Prime Minister," Rajan had said.

Taking a jibe at the hullabaloo over a second term for him he had said, "It will be cruel of me to spoil the fun the press is having on my extension."
