LPG Users To Receive Rs 50 Lakh Accident Insurance Cover At No Extra Cost
The gas inside an LPG cylinder is highly flammable, and despite precautions, accidents can occur.

Almost every household in the country utilises LPG. Interestingly, upon booking an LPG cylinder, customers automatically receive a complimentary accident insurance of Rs 50 lakh for their family, and the unique aspect is that the consumer isn’t required to pay any premium for this coverage.

The gas inside an LPG cylinder is highly flammable, and despite precautions, accidents can occur, sometimes resulting in cylinder explosions due to inadequate maintenance information. In such cases, customers have the right to claim compensation for the damages caused by the accident, and they are entitled to a Rs 50 lakh claim from petroleum companies for their families.

As per the information on the government website MyLPG.in, petroleum companies provide accident cover to customers and their families upon taking an LPG connection. This Rs 50 lakh insurance coverage offers financial assistance in the event of accidents like gas leaks or blasts. The partnership between petroleum and insurance companies facilitates the disbursement of the claimed amount, covering the entire family at Rs 10 lakh per member, with a maximum limit of Rs 50 lakh. For property damage, a claim of up to Rs 2 lakh is applicable. In case of death, a personal accident cover of Rs 6 lakh is provided and a maximum of Rs 30 lakh is available for medical treatment, capped at Rs 2 lakh per member.

How to Claim It?

In case of an accident, it’s crucial to report it to the nearest police station and your LPG distributor. The insurance company affiliated with the area will conduct a thorough investigation. Once the accident linked to the cylinder is confirmed, the insurance company will get a notification. The claim process follows automatically after the investigation report, and there’s no need for the customer to initiate it. To support the claim, it’s essential to retain a copy of the police complaint, treatment expenses, bills, and, in the unfortunate event of death, the postmortem or death certificate should be preserved.
