New Delhi: A day after Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented the Union Budget 2016, CNBC-TV18 and the Mint brought the Budget makers face to face with the captains of industry.
Minister of state for Finance Jayant Sinha, Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia, Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das and Niti Ayog’s CEO Amitabh Kant took tough questions from the captains of industry.
Important discussions at the event centred around the controversial EPF tax in the the Budget proposal, recapitalisation of public sector banks and the government’s disinvestment target.
Even as he admitted that Finance Minister was reviewing the EPF tax proposal, Adhia defended it saying it was an incentive to move towards a pension society.
Another important announcement was that the new relaxed RBI norms will fetch a further Rs 25,000 crore recap for PSBs and that the Aadhaar bill will be introduceed in Parliament in a few days.
