In recent times, the Silicon Valley of India – Bengaluru has become synonymous with viral stories, often revolving around peculiar occurrences in its long, tiresome traffic or people hurriedly going about their business in unexpected ways. However, it’s important to remember that the bustling city is more than just these oddities. Recently, a heartfelt incident that took place in Bengaluru was shared on X (Formally Twitter). It features a woman who found herself in a challenging situation but was saved by a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus driver who came to her aid, reaffirming her faith in the goodness of humanity.
According to the post, Doctor Deepika, a periodontist by profession, was standing on the road in heavy rainfall that left her stranded without any means of transportation. “Not owning a vehicle, I relied on the BMTC bus service. I used various ride-sharing apps. Despite numerous autos in the vicinity, none were willing to accept the ride request. I waited for nearly an hour amidst the pouring rain, repeatedly trying to book cabs and autos, all to no avail,” she narrates her ordeal.
Despite her fatigue, Dr. Deepika held on to hope, turning to BMTC as her last option. Her faith was well-placed as, after an hour of fruitless attempts with autos and cabs, a compassionate BMTC bus driver stopped by her. Deepika explains it was like encountering a real-life hero who arrived at precisely the right moment.
“As soon as he opened the door, he smiled. His smile took away all my exhaustion. I felt I met a superhero who came to my rescue at the right time. It was a direct bus to my bus stop. I got in and took the ticket (pink ticket),” she says.

The post further elaborates that the woman was unable to capture any photos or learn the names of the driver or conductor of the bus as she was still processing the relief and gratitude she felt for being rescued when she arrived at her stop. When she thanked the driver, he reciprocated with that same warm smile that had greeted her when he opened the bus door.
“That was the best gift I could receive for the day. After getting down from the bus, I wanted to thank my BMTC hero in a big way. All I could do was to memorise the bus number after getting down,” she adds.
As a native of Bengaluru and a BMTC regular for over a decade, Deepika claims that BMTC remains the most reliable mode of transportation in the city. She proudly calls herself a regular BMTC traveller, emphasising her appreciation for the service.
Deepika extended her gratitude to all the BMTC staff, acknowledging their unsung heroism in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, social media buffs praised the efforts of BMTC staff for their selfless service in ensuring public safety.
