Jonty Rhodes Shuts Down Troll Slamming Him For 'Not Sharing Food With Bengaluru Driver'
Former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes hits back at troll criticising him for not sharing food with stranger in Bengaluru.

Former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes, renowned for his exceptional fielding skills, recently posted a picture of himself at a local eatery during a pitstop recommended by his cab driver at Bengaluru airport. Rhodes, a frequent visitor to the country, expressed gratitude for the suggestion, relishing a meal of Mangalore bun and Mysore masala dosa.

While many praised Rhodes for immersing himself in Indian culture, one user, pointing to a man beside him in the photo and assuming him to be the driver, criticized Rhodes for not ordering anything for the supposed driver, stating, “Being a celebrity doesn’t give you class.”

Rhodes, visibly unimpressed, responded to the user, clarifying that the person seated with him was not the taxi driver. He explained that the driver did not join him for the meal but had only ordered the food. In a pointed reply, Rhodes said, “I have been sitting on this reply for a couple of days. The gentleman at my table is a stranger to me, and my driver was taking the picture. He did not eat, just ordered for me some of his favourite food. He just had tea, and yes, I did pay for it #shameonyou.”

Meanwhile, amid the online backlash, supportive voices from India urged the cricket legend not to take such remarks seriously on social media. One user reassured him, saying, “Sir you are a legend and please don’t pay attention to these online trolls.”

Another commented, “You don’t owe any explanation to anyone but thanks for clarifying. You are the best.”

Setting the trolls aside, it seems Rhodes thoroughly enjoyed his time in Bengaluru. He didn’t limit his exploration to just Mangalore bun and Mysore masala dosa, as he shared on X (formerly Twitter) that he also savored tea and coffee at Murugan Cafe, praising the person behind the beverage preparation.
