Bengaluru students found themselves caught up in an unusual situation recently when one of them lost their phone to two middle-aged men. These men decided to engage in a bit of ‘blackmail,’ but the resolution to this incident turned out to be utterly unexpected and bizarre. The strange incident was shared on the subreddit ‘Bangalore’ by a user named @gator7319 in a detailed post.
“One fine day friend of mine realised his phone was missing. At first, he thought someone among us has hidden it and is messing with him. We called his phone and some random person started talking and we all still thought it was one of us who is pranking him (as we do this often). But then after talking for a while we realised it wasn’t a prank, he had actually lost his phone and some random guy who picked it up was talking,” they began. This led to negotiations with the person who found the phone.
However, things took a different turn when the man started demanding money or drinks in exchange for returning the phone. Despite their efforts to convince him that they were financially constrained students who relied on canteen meals, the man remained adamant. “Finally they told us to come to ‘Roopashree bar’ to settle it there,” they continued.

Desperate for help, the students reached out to people outside the bar and even attempted to involve the police, but received no satisfactory response. Frustrated and determined to resolve the issue, they mustered the courage to enter the bar and confront them.
Here’s the Post:
“It was two men in their 40-50s and guess what everyone in the bar knows them. Even bartender was very close them,” they revealed. According to the poster, these uncles resembled those laid-back Desi individuals who frequently enjoy themselves and have a good time.
“They are full laughing, chilling and what not after hours of trauma they gave us. But they were still demanding for two “quarters”. We told we only had 200 and paid but apparently it was more than that but they told it’s okay they’ll pay the rest. And they even offered us drinks and told they’ll treat us. Like, they didn’t even need the money they were just f’ing with us,” the poster concluded.
It turns out that these uncles were just looking to have some fun and play around with the young students who had recently relocated to Bengaluru for their entrance exams.
