Skoda is revving up to give a tough fight in the compact SUV game with its latest offering, which is yet to be named but is already creating a buzz with new spy shots.
Expected to hit the roads by March 2025, this compact SUV will be Skoda’s entry-level model in India.
Recent spy shots during testing highlight subtle yet significant design changes. With a slightly shorter rear door and reshaped sheet metal, the compact SUV aims to establish its own identity while adhering to Skoda’s latest design trends. The reduced front and rear overhangs not only enhance its visual appeal but also position it strategically below the sub-four-meter mark to meet regulatory criteria.
According to Autocar, one of the key features of this compact SUV is its shorter wheelbase, measuring at 2566 mm. This adjustment is likely to make driving in cities easier but might affect cabin space. It will be powered by a 115 bhp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine borrowed from other Skoda models.
Inside, Skoda promises a feature-packed cabin, with upgrades expected over its current models like the Kushaq and Slavia. Though specifics are not revealed yet, it’s expected to include a 360-degree camera and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Under the hood, the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine will be mated with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Priced between Rs. 9 lakhs to 14 lakhs (ex-showroom), the compact SUV will lock horns with tough competitors like the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and others.
