Rolls-Royce's latest teaser image regarding its next flagship limousine shows that the eighth-generation Phantom is starting to taking shape. Set to go on sale in 2018, the Phantom has the unenviable task of living up to the title of "The best car in the world." The latest picture from the company, of a craftsperson shaping the new car's aluminium shell, confirms that the next car will indeed pick up where the current model will leave off in terms of attention to detail and use of exotic and lightweight materials.
"I am proud and excited to confirm that a new Phantom is on the way, and it will be a contemporary and beautiful Phantom befitting of its role as the flagship of global luxury," said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
With a new flagship coming, demand for the existing Phantom was expected to drop off, but the opposite is proving the case. Rolls-Royce is overwhelmed with orders for completely bespoke current-generation Phantoms. So much so that the order book, which was meant to close permanently in December, will remain open into the early months of 2017.
"The huge level of demand for Phantom VII, which we will fulfil well into 2017, clearly demonstrates that the Rolls-Royce customer and patron of true luxury will accept no compromise when considering the purchase of a super-luxury motor car," said Müller-Ötvös.
