The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) buses in Mumbai, Maharashtra, have resumed their services on the stretch of Gokhale Road in Dadar West.
These services were earlier diverted in 2019 due to the Metro construction work, which has now been completed.
An official said, “The Gokhale Road stretch has been restored in the Up direction between Ranade Road junction and R G Gadkari Chowk from 1.45 pm on Tuesday. Our buses have been diverted since 2019 for Metro work on this stretch — which has now been completed,” quoted TOI.
The senior official further added that all the bus routes going towards Mahim and Plaza Cinema from Shivaji Park have been resumed. “These include bus routes number 2, 28, 33, 37, 85, 87, 92 among others,” he said.
Earlier, these buses were diverted to an alternative route which caused a great inconvenience for all the commuters.
In a major development, BEST in March this year introduced two pairs of premium air-conditioned bus services for commuters on the Bus Route No. S-145, connecting the World Trade Center and Konkan Bhavan, CBD Belapur via the recently inaugurated Atal Setu, also known as the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link.
These AC buses commenced operations on March 14, providing relief to all the commuters travelling between South Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
An official of the BEST earlier said, “The decision to launch the premium bus service comes in response to persistent demands from passengers following the opening of the Atal Setu. Commuters have expressed the need for a reliable and comfortable public transport option connecting these crucial business hubs” quoted Free Press Journal.
“The bus route, encompassing key landmarks such as the World Trade Center, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (GPO), and Yashwantrao Chavan Center, is strategically designed to optimize connectivity,” he added.
Departing from Konkan Bhavan, CBD Belapur at 7:30 am and 8 am and from World Trade Center at 5:30 pm and 6 pm, the newly launched premium bus service covers the distance between the two business hubs in just 100 minutes.
Additionally, these premium BEST bus services can be operated via the BEST Chalo Aapp, which allows passengers to book their seats conveniently.
