A robbery at a cell phone store in Brazil took a dramatic turn when a worker shot the intruder multiple times, leaving him critically wounded. The incident unfolded swiftly as the alleged thief entered the store wearing a motorcycle helmet and brandishing what appeared to be a firearm.
Surveillance footage captured the tense moments as the suspect approached a seated female employee. Without warning, a male worker on the opposite side of the room drew his own weapon and fired several shots, causing the suspect to collapse. As other employees scrambled for cover, the scene underscored the split-second decisions in confronting armed intruders.

Emergency services rushed the suspect to the hospital in “very serious condition,” while the employee who discharged the firearm was detained briefly for questioning before being released, UK’s Daily Mail reported. The exact location of the incident and the identities of those involved were not immediately disclosed.
The shooting reignites debates over gun laws in Brazil, which were relaxed under former President Jair Bolsonaro’s administration but subsequently tightened by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in 2023. Despite an increase in firearm ownership, the British newspaper said Brazil’s homicide rate remained steady during Bolsonaro’s tenure.
