Fidayeen Attack Near Karachi Airport Shows BLA Wants Pakistan Army, Chinese to Leave Balochistan: Sources to News18
China’s embassy in Islamabad confirmed that Chinese staff members from the Port Qasim Electric Power Company — a coal-powered plant developed as a joint venture between China and Pakistan — were in the convoy when it was attacked around 11 pm on Sunday. The embassy reported that two Chinese nationals were killed, and one was injured

A massive blast outside the Jinnah airport in Pakistan’s Karachi city on October 6 killed at least two people, injuring eight others. The deceased were reportedly workers from China. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack. The group said a BLA agent of the Majeed Brigade was the perpetrator of the attack under Operation Black Storm.

The BLA wants the Chinese and Pakistani authorities to leave Balochistan. Top intelligence sources told CNN-News18 that such attacks are going on because of Baloch people’s anger towards the Pakistan army and the Chinese.

Baloch people say they are the original inhabitants of the Gwadar port area while these occupants have come and exploited their wealth.

“They are becoming more and more sophisticated and lethal. Yesterday’s attack was carried out by BLA Majeed Brigade’s suicide bomber, Shah Fahad alias Aftab, who has a master’s degree from a university in the Punjab province,” said a source.

According to sources, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has special brigades for suicide bombings and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

“It uses highly sophisticated techniques to recce a place, including high-rises. They know how to enter complex places with multiple assailants and vehicle-borne IEDs,” a source said. “Earlier they used Guerrilla warfare and were hit-and-run experts but are now turning to suicide bombing. This is a noble cause for the local Baloch and they are wedded to this cause.”

The embassy reported that two Chinese nationals were killed, and one was injured.

As reported by CNN-News18 earlier, the BLA started a new fidayeen operation, Herof (Black Storm), to be carried out by its elite group, the Majeed Brigade. The operation was launched in August on the death anniversary of Akbar Bugti, former CM of Balochistan, who was killed during General Pervez Musharraf’s regime in 2006. As part of this, they have started to attack and take control of major camps of the Pakistan Army.

According to top sources from Indian intelligence, right now the Baloch Missing Persons Movement is at its peak and is headed by Dr Maharang Baloch.

“This kind of energy and coordination is seen for the first time in Baloch attacks. They have control over highways and roads and all inside activities are in their control which is significant,” said a source. “This highway and road control is going to hit CPEC projects for some time and can impact Pakistan and China relations.”
