Be it India or USA, potholes on roads have become a common sight. For one man, a simple normal-looking pothole led to an accidental discovery of another world hidden underground in New York. The video of him exploring the place has grabbed the attention of 38.6 million Instagram users. Recently, a video surfaced that showed that as soon as the pedestrian stepped on the pothole, and through the gaping hole on the footpath of a New York street, it was found that there were tunnels below, which made it seem like a whole new world. The clip begins with an in-text, “This was Casey’s video.” The video then proceeds to show a crack on the footpath where a person steps and creates a deep gaping hole. The user shared, “Sixteen years ago, Casey Nyscap found a hole in the New York sidewalk. So we flew all the way out to find it.” As the camera zoomed into the hole, it showed some plumbing and cement. He further added, “Unfortunately, it was sealed.”
After posting the video, he and his team got an anonymous tip about a “secret tunnel system inside a synagogue. They were told that it was somewhere inside of the basement, so they went down to check. The user further shared, “There were a bunch of strange rooms that still had power (electricity).” They found a closet and that somebody had broken the wall to find their way in. “They even cut a hole into this metal to get into the secret tunnel.” They further found a “strange-looking vent” that was actually a tunnel system that stretched for miles. The user sounds surprised as he found tunnels in NYC. Additionally, the team found stairs, massive fans for ventilation, a strange room that looked like a “fallout shelter” with computers and a bunker with a bed inside. The caption read, “We found tunnels in NYC.”
An user wrote, “Bro found old York.” Another commented, “It’s all fun and games until you forget your way back.” One chimed in, “I can’t believe we found tunnels in New York City” um, brother, the entire city is built on top of millions of tunnels.” One more wrote, “Yes there’s tunnels and crawl spaces. How else do you think those Pipes and HVAC get serviced? C’mon.”
