Watch: KKR Star Sunil Narine Breaks Silence On Not Showing Emotions On Field
Sunil Narine is the only player in this IPL to hold a top-ten spot in both Orange and Purple Cap lists.

Why doesn’t Sunil Narine show emotions? This question might have popped up in the mind of every Kolkata Knight Riders fan. Narine has been associated with the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise since 2012. In his debut season, KKR won their maiden title and replicated the success in the 2014 edition as well. More than a decade has passed and Narine still holds a respectable position in the KKR family. When playing for the Kolkata-based side, the Caribbean all-rounder has always been at his absolute best. This season is no exception.

With Gautam Gambhir returning as a mentor, the KKR team management has tasked Sunil Narine to spearhead the batting attack as an opener in this IPL. He has fairly excelled in the role, having racked up 461 runs at a strike rate of 183.66. His bowling has also been quite impressive. In his eleven appearances this season, Narine has fetched 14 wickets. He is the only player in this IPL to hold a top-ten spot in both Orange and Purple Cap lists.

Despite having a great campaign, fans have hardly seen Sunil Narine celebrate on the field. He was asked the reason on a recent episode of the Knight Dugout podcast. The question led Narine to walk down memory lane. The 35-year-old revealed that it was his father who once told him to stay humble in any kind of situation.

“Growing up, a lesson that I got from my dad was that if you get someone out today, you still have to play against them tomorrow or next time. So, I think you just enjoy the moment as much as you can but don’t overdo it,” Sunil Narine was heard saying in a video dropped on KKR’s official Instagram handle.

It, however, was not the end of the discussion. The presenter then dished out a tricky question, only to get a hilarious response from Sunil Narine. The cricketer was asked if he would celebrate after picking the wicket of a batter playing his last game. “He could go and commentate afterwards,” Narine replied.

Andre Russell, who was also part of the podcast episode, looked quite impressed by Narine’s answer. The presenter showed a thumbs-up to the reply as well, saying, “True! Good, smart guy.”

Sunil Narine will look to continue his scintillating form when Kolkata Knight Riders square off against Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens on Saturday, May 11.
